Access to the Museum

Savigliano Museum has been constructed to allow maximum access possible for visitors with disabilities.

All exhibits located on the ground floor of the main building, as well the rolling stock on the square displayed outside are reached without having to use steps and ramps are in place where necessary.

Lift access is available to the second floor library and the multimedia room.

All exhibition spaces and the toilets are designed to facilitate the easy movement of wheelchairs.

Access to rolling stock

All exhibits are visible externally at ground level.

Whilst it is possible to visit the inside of exhibits such as railway carriages and diesel units, it should be borne in mind that these were designed during periods when issues of universal access were not considered. Thus certain spaces do not allow the movement of wheelchairs and may as a result in restricted access for some.

Railway Carriage BH 203

In collaboration with GATT and Turin Transport Group, a preserved GTT carriage has been equipped to allow access for persons with mobility difficulties. Whenever possible, this carriage is included in the rolling stock for special trains run by the Piedmont Railway Museum .

The carriage has modified in accordance with current health and safety standards. It is equipped with elevator platforms to allow access of independent travellers with wheelchairs; appropriate space and height to manoeuvre inside the carriage; and the possibility of anchoring up to six standard wheelchairs.

The coach is currently awaiting a periodic inspection at  GTT’s specialised workshops at Moretta (CN).
